On September 20 and 27, the annual Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholarship Luncheon brought together donors (including esteemed donor Marilyn Davies), UHD President Loren J. Blanchard, and leaders from UHD’s Marilyn Davies College of Business (MDCOB) for a single purpose: to recognize and celebrate the outstanding students whose achievements earned them the scholarship.

Funded through a generous grant from the C.T. Bauer Foundation, the program supports the most outstanding MDCOB students in their educational pursuits. “The C.T. Bauer Foundation has touched the lives of hundreds of students, helping them reach their full potential, freeing them of financial stress, and accelerating their transformative impact on our region,” said Dr. Jonathan Davis, Dean of MDCOB.

Students from all walks of life had the unique opportunity to share their stories with luncheon attendees, highlighting the impact of the scholarship on their lives and, most importantly, their futures. “When I got the news that I was selected for this program, a huge weight came off my shoulders,” said Angie Celeste Monterroso, Ted Bauer Scholarship recipient. “This scholarship has allowed me to study and be involved on campus without financial stress.”

This fall, the program celebrates not only six years, but also the largest number of Ted Bauer Scholars to date. As the initiative expands, it continues to empower business students facing the complexities of balancing personal life, work, and coursework.

Monterroso offers the following advice for hopeful Ted Bauer Scholars: “Don't be afraid to go out of your comfort zone and overcome your fears. Get connected, get involved. Your efforts will take you to places you never imagined.”
