Prepare Yourself
● Make sure to register for all UHD emergency alerts by logging into myUHD and updating Campus Emergency Notification information.
● Keep your cell phone charged at all times. Purchase a solar-powered USB charger.
● If you become stranded on campus in the event of an emergency, call UHD Police immediately with your location.
● If you remain on campus during an emergency, download and check in with the SafeZone App. The app allows you to communicate directly with UHDPD Dispatch in an emergency.
● Drive with caution. And remember– Turn Around, Don’t Drown. NEVER drive around barriers or through high water!
DO
● If outside, seek shelter immediately in a low-lying area.
● Protect yourself from flying and falling debris.
● Go to the lowest floor in a multi-story building if time permits.
● Go to an inside room without windows (bathroom, closet, center hallway).
● Follow all public announcements and instructions sent via UHD Alert.
DON'T
● Take shelter in a motor vehicle. It is the least desirable place during a tornado.
● Go to large open rooms such as cafeterias, gyms, or auditoriums.
UHD has partnered with the SafeZone app to ensure every member of the campus community has quick and efficient access to emergency services, right on their smartphone or wearable device.
