What is ATA?

The ATA program is aimed at ensuring that transfer students have all the support they need to persist and graduate. Students can look forward to a holistic support system and financial incentives through book vouchers and scholarship opportunities as they pursue their degree at UHD.

What makes us unique?

On average, students in the ATA program earn a higher GPA and earn more credit hours in their first semester than other new transfer students. Our students are also more likely to re-enroll at UHD for a second year than other similar new transfer students.

What's in it for me?

ATA students receive up to $150 in bookstore vouchers each semester for participating in the program. They also qualify for exclusive scholarships up to $1,000. (Must be on the incentive track of the program)

Support for All UHD Transfers

In order to help students graduate with their bachelor's degree expediently, we offer our services and resources to all UHD transfer students both full-time and part-time. The ATA Program is here to support all transfer students in their academic and personal journeys regardless of when they transferred to UHD.

Incentive Track

Eligibility for the incentive track is that full-time enrollment is required and all of the ATA requirements are fulfilled by the deadline. At the end of the semester, you are able to apply for a $150 book voucher and ATA scholarships.

Non-Incentive Track
Eligibility for the non-incentive track is that students are enrolled at least half-time and all of the ATA requirements are fulfilled. This track is available for students to benefit from our resources and programming but will not qualify for a $150 book voucher nor able to apply for ATA scholarships.

Career Readiness

Students are required to visit their career center and complete the action items below. These action items are the catalyst for connecting with career readiness champions on campus.

Action Items:

  • Resume
  • Mock Interview
  • Headshot
  • Reflection Essay

ATA Program Requirements

Throughout the fall and spring semesters, ATA students participate in intentional activities and attend targeted events to fulfill program requirements. Some examples of these requirements are listed below.

Connecting to Career Readiness

Throughout your time at UHD, you will participate in plenty of activities, hear different lectures and learn from industry professionals.

To fulfill this ATA requirement, you'll critically reflect on experiences you've had to connect them with career readiness competencies. This will help you be able to articulate their value as you write your resume, interview for jobs or prepare for graduate school.

Meeting with your Success Coach

Academic Success Coaches are your ally throughout your time in the ATA program. Success coaches help ATA students with time management skills, study habits, identifying strengths and career goals, and connecting students to resources.

As an ATA student, you'll be required to meet with your assigned coach at least two times during your first semester. This can be done in person, by phone, or virtually via Zoom. Appointments can be scheduled using the Navigate student success platform.

Program Meeting

Each month, ATA students and staff gather together (in person or virtually) to hear about program updates, upcoming deadlines and opportunities available for transfer students.

Program meetings are also a great way to get to know your fellow ATA members and staff. Each Program Meeting is different-- sometimes we play games, sometimes we have guest speakers. We try to make sure there's something for everyone to take away from each meeting!
