Harlem Nights: A Harlem Renaissance-Themed Talent Showcase
We are looking for student, faculty, and staff performers and artists who have an interest in creative writing, poetry, music, art, or dance. The subject of performance pieces should be “RESISTANCE.” Performance spots will be first come, first served.

Black History Month Read-Aloud for Elementary School Students
Looking for volunteers to join us as we visit Harvest Preparatory Academy Elementary School for a Black History Month Read-Aloud. We will be dividing into small teams at the school to read the book "All Because You Matter" to the young scholars and, hopefully, future Gators. Transportation from UHD to Harvest Prep Academy will be provided. Please join us in this valuable, high-impact community outreach opportunity.

An open discussion concerning campus dynamics from the perspective of Black students. This is an opportunity to share your experience and observations, make suggestions, offer constructive criticism, and build community and fellowship with fellow Gators.
The Bayou Review: Call for Submissions
Student Workshop: Taking Care of Y(our)selves: Emotional Well-Being in College
*Students who attend can also complete the ATA CLC Reflection form for CLC credit.
This workshop will prepare college students with the knowledge of key issues that may take place during the college transition, including how systemic racism impacts their mental health and emotional well-being. Students will learn a holistic approach to understanding their health and well-being. Students will be able to identify their stressors and explore individual, campus, and community resources and strategies to manage their stress as well as to practice help-seeking behaviors.
*Attendees will receive a calendar hold for the workshop from the Meadows Institute within seven days of registration.
UHD Impact Learning Office: Field Trip to Wesley Community Center
The UHD Impact Learning Office is taking a field trip to the Wesley Community Center to learn more about community issues in Houston's near northside and how students can get involved. Feel free to join us to learn more about the great work this organization does.
This event will be on Thursday, March 2nd from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. There will be snacks and giveaway items.
Registration for this event closes on February 17th, after which the Impact Learning Office will reach out to students with more details.
