Mental Health Workshops
The mental health and well-being of our students are a major source of concern for our administrators, faculty, and staff. UHD Counseling Services invites students, staff & faculty to attend interactive learning workshops to help promote the mental health and well-being of students of color.
Inclusive and Equitable Institutional Policies for Mental Health (Active Minds)
Learn how to evaluate if your institution's policies around mental health which are inclusive of diverse student groups and how to encourage and support students to lead inclusive and equitable mental health policy change efforts on campus.
Student Workshop: Taking Care of Y(our)selves: Emotional Well-Being in College (Steve Fund)
This workshop will prepare college students with the knowledge of key issues that may take place during the college transition, including how systemic racism impacts their mental health and emotional well-being.
*Students who attend these events can complete the ATA CLC Reflection form to receive CLC credit.
UHD ÔÇïBasic Needs for Students
Access to basic needs, such as food, housing, childcare, mental health, financial assistance, and transportation, is critical for ensuring strong academic performance, increasing persistence and graduation, and improving well-being among students. UHD’s biannual day of service event, GatorServe will be held on Saturday, January 14, from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. This semester, we’ve partnered with the Houston SPCA.
Additionally, we are also calling for donations of newspaper, pet beds, litter boxes, towels, and blankets to help support the Houston SPCA’s cause. Donations may be delivered to the CCESL office in S417 in advance or brought with you on the day of the event.
Volunteers will meet at the Houston SPCA located at 7007 Old Katy Road, Houston, TX 77024 to take part in a Welcome Ceremony, and then break out into project groups.

Volunteers will be provided with a tee shirt, tools/supplies/instructions to complete the projects, and box lunches to go. Please come prepared to work and possibly get dirty while completing projects.
The Accelerated Transfer Academy program is moving to a new space. We will be housed in N320 (behind the Gator Success Center). This move will allow our students to conveniently access all ATA staff and resources in one place. The ATA lounge will remain on the 4th floor in S418.
