Join us for the final UHD Unplugged event of the semester featuring Charlie Perez, a proud Houston native and renowned percussionist whose artistry blends rhythm, culture, and connection. A graduate of the University of Houston with a degree in Anthropology and Musicology, Charlie’s career spans over two decades of performance and production. From touring and performing with global icons like John Legend and Juanes at the 2009 Latin Grammys to recording with artists from Grammy Award-winning Tejano band La Mafia and collaborating with Khruangbin and Leon Bridges, Charlie’s musical footprint is both local and international.

He will lead an interactive music session that concludes with a live jam featuring poetry readings and freestyle vocals from UHD students. Don’t miss this vibrant Afternoon of rhythm, creativity, and community as we celebrate the power of artistic expression to close out another inspiring semester at UHD.
