What is ATA?

The Accelerated Transfer Academy (ATA) is aimed at ensuring that new UHD transfer students have all the support they need to persist, graduate and Finish UHD Strong!

What makes us unique?

On average, students in the ATA program earn a higher GPA and earn more credit hours in their first semester than other new transfer students.

Career Learning Communities

CLCs bring together ATA students with faculty, alumni, and career professionals that provide guidance and insights around similar career interests.

What's in it for me?

ATA students can earn up to $150 in bookstore vouchers each of their first two semesters for participating in the program. They also qualify for exclusive scholarships up to $1,000

Joining the ATA Program

All ATA students are required to be full time in the fall and spring semesters (at least 12 credit hours) and to enroll in ATA 3099 during their first semester in ATA.

Full Time Course Load

In order to help students graduate with their bachelor's degree expediently, and to #FinishUHDStrong, all ATA students are required to be full time in their first year at UHD.

We understand that sometimes this is not a possibility given students' outside responsibilities. In those cases, we wish those students the absolute best of luck, but unfortunately, are unable to take them into the program.

ATA 3099

ATA 3099 is a zero-credit, zero-cost seminar/workshop course that students take during their first semester of the ATA program.ATA 3099 mainly focuses on building career readiness skill sets, and is offered 100% online through Blackboard. The course is self-paced, but the eight course modules must be completed by the end of the semester.

ATA Program Requirements

Throughout the fall and spring semesters, ATA students participate in intentional activities and attend targeted events to fulfill program requirements. Some examples of these requirements are listed below.

Connecting to Career Readiness

Throughout your time at UHD, you'll participate in plenty of activities, hear different lectures and learn from industry professionals.

To fulfill this ATA requirement, you'll critically reflect on experiences you've had to connect them with career readiness competencies. This will help you be able to articulate their value as you write your resume, interview for jobs or prepare for graduate school.

Making an Appointment with your Success Coach

Academic Success Coaches are your ally throughout your time in the ATA program. Success coaches help ATA students with time management skills, study habits, identifying strengths and career goals, and connecting students to resources.

As an ATA student, you'll be required to meet with your assigned coach at least two times during your first semester. This can be done in person, by phone or virtually via Zoom.

Program Meeting

Each month, ATA students and staff gather together (in person or virtually) to hear about program updates, upcoming deadlines and opportunities available for transfer students.

Program meetings are also a great way to get to know your fellow ATA members and staff. Each Program Meeting is different-- sometimes we play games, sometimes we have guest speakers. We try to make sure there's something for everyone to take away from each meeting!
