The Gator Resource Center now manages the METRO sub-card program for UHD students. METRO sub-cards provide access to public transit through the METRO system, making it easier to get to campus, work, and appointments.
How the card works:
-The UHD-sponsored METRO Q Card automatically reloads once the balance falls to $5.
-Only one reload is permitted per calendar month.
-RideShare participants are not eligible to purchase a UHD parking permit under current program guidelines.
-If the sponsored card's balance is exhausted before the monthly reload occurs, students must use another fare payment method until the next scheduled reload.
How to sign up
1. Visit the Gator Resource Center during operating hours and let staff know you would like to sign up for a METRO card.
2. Complete a short paper application provided by staff.
3. Turn in the completed application before leaving.
4. Your physical card will be issued at sign-up and will be ready to use by the end of the following business day. You will be notified once it is ready.
Who is eligible
-Currently enrolled UHD students
-Enrolled at least half time (6 credit hours)
Cost
-The METRO sub-card is provided free of charge through the RideSponsor Program.
-UHD subsidizes 25% of monthly fare costs based on participants fare zone.
For example, if a participant resides in Zone 4, the monthly fare cost is approximately $198 based on 22 commuting days per month. UHD subsidizes approximately $49.50, and the participant is responsible for the remaining balance.
Participants are encouraged to obtain a second fare card to cover the remaining amount. Eligible college and university students may receive an additional student discount through METRO by applying online or visiting a METRO RideStore with required documentation.
