The Accelerated Transfer Academy (ATA) provides qualified transfer students with career development support and an enhanced transfer experience. As part of the program, students have dedicated academic, success and career coaches who help to navigate students’ major toward a chosen career path, internship opportunities and financial support. In addition, Peer Mentors with experience transferring to UHD are at ATA Scholars’ disposal to provide guidance and support throughout the program. ATA is a great way to build friendships and network with other transfer students at UHD!

ATA is focused on three main areas:
1. Career Identification & Planning
2. Academic Success
3. Student Engagement & Community Building

GatorServe is a UHD tradition that brings together UHD students, staff, faculty, friends, families and community partners to complete projects in service of our neighbors. GatorServe is held on both Martin Luther King Jr. Day and September 11th as they are National Days of Service.

GatorServe volunteers are prepared to help homeowners, small business owners, non-profits, schools and other community entities with a variety of small tasks. Some examples would be gardening, painting, assisting with household chores, setting up or taking down seasonal decorations or electronics, general cleanup, power washing, small construction projects and so on.

Some of the issues that GTF scholars have had to navigate in their matriculation to UHD have informed and enlightened university administrators to begin to investigate and extrapolate these same concerns as they relate to, not only ECHS students, but the general population of First-Time-In-College (FTIC) freshmen. Dr. Scott Marzilli, Dean of University College and Chief Student Success Officer at UHD, has suggested the formation of a GTF student organization that would serve as a network for other Early College High School students attending UHD that are not participating in the GTF Scholars Program, but would benefit from academic and social connection with those who share a similar background. Many students who have transitioned from an ECHS experience are unable to build a support structure as they enroll in junior and senior level courses where they are the youngest in those classes and encounter challenges unique to a similar demographic profile. The organization could take on an essential but never before coordinated role in providing an avenue to access resources and offer mentoring opportunities that would develop naturally for a population whose needs differ from the mainstream. Initially marketed as a social or service organization whose members share a common bond, this initiative could potentially serve as a critical retention strategy campus-wide for many ECHS students trying desperately to fit in and find their way. The concept was presented to incoming 2020 GTF scholars during the Virtual Fall Retreat and was received enthusiastically by several who expressed an interest in helping to organize such an effort with the leadership of their GTF Peer Mentors.

The UHD Scholars Academy (SA) is an academically, competitive program in the College of Sciences and Technology (CST) that promotes scholarship and student success for UHD undergraduate students majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). We aim to increase the number of students graduating with degrees in the STEM fields, as well as the number of students pursuing graduate and professional degrees.

Membership Benefits
The UHD Scholars Academy offers a high-quality education through smaller classes, faculty mentoring, modern labs, hands-on experience and flexible course options. Scholars have the opportunity to participate in special extracurricular activities, research internships, community service and STEM-related seminars/field trips. Each student is awarded a scholarship on average of $3,000 - $4,000 per academic year. Summer stipends are also granted for research participation. In addition, Academy members may apply and receive additional financial assistance, such as the TEXAS grant and Hispanic Scholarship Fund. Completion of the FAFSA is required (where citizenship status allows).
